《那先比丘經》與《彌蘭陀王問》 2/2

現今存世有漢譯兩本《那先比丘經》(1670A, 1670B)與巴利《彌蘭陀王問》。巴利《彌蘭陀王問》僅存在於緬甸版的「巴利三藏的《小部》」，實際上，錫蘭與泰國的「巴利三藏的《小部》」並未包含《彌蘭陀王問》。

西方學者知悉漢譯兩本《那先比丘經》之後，認為巴利《彌蘭陀王問》是「原本」或「較接近『原本』的版本」，即使巴利《彌蘭陀王問》的內容篇幅是漢譯《那先比丘經》的兩倍多，而通常的原則是，晚出的佛教文獻的篇幅較長，一般是不願刪減內容，將「詳本」編寫作「簡本」的機會不大。
在近年的研究之下，學界普遍的共識是：
1. 漢譯兩本《那先比丘經》是「原本」或「較接近『原本』的版本」。
2. 巴利《彌蘭陀王問》增添了不少內容，而有些內容是「南傳上座部」特有的特徵。

Bryan De Notariis 引 (Fussman1993:68)的內容整理為下列重點：
1. 漢、巴經典共有的內容應是源自「原本」。
2. 僅有某一語言版本獨有的內容可能是後期的擴充，巴利本獨有的內容特別有此可能。
3. 理論上來說，僅有某一語言版本獨有的內容也有可能是從「原本」倖存下來的內容。
4. 對漢、巴經典共有的內容所作的詮釋，必需能是用於全本內容而不出現矛盾。
5. 應考量漢、巴經典的印度文化、文學成分。

帖主想增加的一點是，以今日的佛學研究現狀而論，單從漢語文獻來探討與研究漢譯兩本《那先比丘經》(1670A, 1670B)，已經完全不合時宜。
也就是說，「漢、巴文本的比較研究」已經不再是奢侈品，而是一種必需品。
