在西方靈性大師的影響下，「臣服」被重新詮釋為放下與接受，成為心靈成長潮流用語，也讓人以為它與佛教隨緣很像。這個影片會從字源語義深入的分析，來探討臣服能否用於佛教脈絡，並取代原有的「隨緣」呢？

這個題目很早就想深入地了解一下。

今年春節跟菩提長老問好時，也順便請教了長老的意見。

菩提長老很明確地說：

「我不喜歡將“臣服”一詞用於佛教修行。這似乎源於基督教背景，在那我們被告知應該“臣服於上帝的旨意”。但這不適用於佛教。」

I don't like the use of the word "surrender" in relation to Buddhist practice. It seems to come from a Christian background, where we are told that we should "surrender to the will of God." But this does not apply in Buddhism.

讓我更加肯定自己感覺「怪怪」的，是有理由的。
